      Now we have the engine and trans axle married  , we are ready to install it in the 2.5 cradle. The cradle has been sandblasted and primed.
      For a front / front mount we used a Summitt Racing ENS-3-1108R  mount, bolted to the rear 4.9 caddy mount and a simple piece of angle welded to the front of the cradle. As seen left photo below.
      For the front rear mount we also used the same Summitt mount as above , cutting a 3/8 " plate to size, welding a
 3/8 right angle to it and adding a gusset.
      The hole milled in the bracket allows easier access to the hold down bolt , the mount bolts in original location for the 2.5 center mount. As seen right photo below.
      

  

 

 

       Now  it's off to the local PULL A PART   franchise to obtain  a distributor , fuel rail , thermostat housing , 91 4.9 Deville  ecm  and the wiring harness from the donor vehicle.
       Fuel injectors were Ford pulled from late model wreck. {Requires electrical connection adapters}
Engine and cradle being prepped for install in car.


  Installation was fairly stright forward , other than having to remove the rear  engine lift lug after insallation, {hits the chassis }
  However because i elected to use the automatic belt tensioner , the hood hinge point had to be cut down.
 
   Many people cringe at cutting the car but to me the auto adjuster was worth adding the
 extra dampener to lift the hood.
   i have the fasback clip and trunk lid to convert this 86 to fastback.
 

    
                                       


 

  

 

 

            COMING NEXT =THE WIRING HARNESS DILEMMA

  I  TOOK THE  HARNESS FROM A 94 CADILLAC , ECM , AND  FEW OTHER WIRES . REMOVE THE OLD HARNESS FROM THE FIERO  WHILE THE ENGINE / TRANS AXLE IS OUT.

     LAY EVERYTHING OUT  ON A TABLE , GET THE WIRING SCHEMATICS FROM THE CADDY AND FIERO ,PLACE THE  ECM  ON THE FIREWALL BETWEEN THE SEATS AND START MEASURING  THE LENGTHS  , CUT AND SPLICE ALL THOSE WIRES. 
 
    Not my favorite job , and several vendors such as Fierofactory  and painless can provide them already
   assembled.

    YOU certainly want to put the harness in before the engine goes back










          AS   CAN BE SEEN , THE ENGINE BAY GETS PRETTY BUSY WHEN IT"S ALL  INSTALLED.







      THE ECM RUNS A CUSTOM BURNT CHIP WHICH  REMOVES THE VATS {VEHICLE ANTI THEFT SYSTEM }
      FROM THE CADDY FILE , AS WELL AS IGNORING VARIOUS  BODY CONTROL MODULE ERRORS.
   
        THE CHIP ALSO SHUTS  OFF THE FUEL INJECTORS @ 6000 RPM IN CASE OF A MISSED SHIFT
 
      SINCE THIS IS A 5 SPEED  , THE AUTOMATIC TRANS INPUTS ALSO HAVE TO BE WRITTEN OUT TO
      PREVENT  MIL FAULTS.
